Johnson stinks. You do have to keep Stamkos at a reasonable salary because you also have to keep Hedman and Kucherov.

i don't know, but my guess is that tampa has to come back with an offer on their next go around that is pretty close to stamkos' asking price.

i get the feeling stamkos is a little insulted that it took them this long to give him what he perceives to be a low-ball offer.

Kopitar, 2 Cups
Kane, 3 Cups
Toews, 3 Cups

As soon as he wins one or two, then he's worth $10M+. Until then, $9M is fair. But some idiot GM will give him $11M. And that's why there is a salary cap. To save the idiots from themselves.

Pay up or trade him. If he walks Yzerman has failed.

I think it's important to note Florida doesn't have a state income tax. That has to be taken into consideration when discussing potential salary.

did callahan, stralman, bishop, filpula etc. take less money because of state income tax?

looking at their salaries, i think not. not sure why it's on stamkos' shoulders to take a discount.

So Hossa and Carter are worth more than Stamkos? This is a team sport, Stanley cups won shouldn't impact a player's worth much at all.
